From local news desk to national newsroom to your student union.
Carol Kaplan is a Washington, D.C.-based media relations expert and Emmy-winning journalist with two decades of experience getting people ready for the moment everyone else is watching.
She started out as a television news anchorwoman and reporter at stations across the U.S. — the same kind of first job many students in the room are hoping to land. Her live field reports have aired on CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC, earning her an Emmy and several other national awards.
From there, Carol became the on-the-record spokesperson for the American Bankers Association, the nation’s largest banking trade association — navigating the organization through the 2008–2010 U.S. financial crisis and personally fielding an average of over 500 media requests a year.
She’s since advised the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury on communications strategy, and coached C-level executives for high-stakes national interviews.
Today, Carol takes everything that career taught her — about confidence, first impressions, and telling your own story — and brings it straight to the students who need it most, right before they need it.
One career, built one interview at a time.
